My passion for photography started 20 years ago with the purchase of an old second-hand manual SLR, but like so many of us, for a living, i chose to follow my safe, second love - farming. And so I followed that career path in my country of birth, Zimbabwe. Under the current political regime, my farming ended in a great deal of tragic silliness, but I did gain some clarity. My partner Wendy, and I, decided it was time to take the chance and pursue our passions, my photography and her art. Our adventure has lead us to settle in the KwaZulu Natal Midlands, South Africa, where incidentally I schooled. My first photographic love was people, an affair that continues today. Nothing is quite so rewarding as capturing a pensive moment, a bemused smile or burst of laughter. This progressed to photographing weddings, at first for friends, which evolved to a more professional approach. But the stress of shooting on film and relying on Zimbabwean labs dulled the pleasure somewhat. Enter digital......this piece of technological brilliance changed everything. Suddenly there was a whole world of possibilities to explore and so began the endless hours hunkered down in front of my computer learning this new technology. It continues even now, the programs are constantly evolving, new technologies are being developed and an exciting crop of digital masters are standing up to be counted. It is this group to which I aspire.
